Some situations are pre-approved, such as an obligor is receiving Supplemental Security Income. Interest can also be considered uncollectible under certain circumstances. In both cases, interest is not charged while regular payments are made and, after one year of regular payments, any unpaid interest that had accrued before that date can be compromised. Interest may be compromised when an obligor enters into a payment plan to avoid license suspension or other enforcement remedies or when an obligor has been making payments on a regular basis.
